在回頭檢視自己閱讀過的文章中，發現一些之前漏掉的疑問。
在這篇文章中，在第二段的最後一句:
Were they salt domes such as are common along the United States Gulf Coast, and if so, why should there have been so much solid crystalline salt beneath the floor of the Mediterranean?
這是省略if之後主詞動詞倒裝的結構? -> If they were salt domes such as…
但是看上去又像是一個單純的問句 Were they…?
->它們是跟 along the United States Gulf Coast的salt dome一樣的東西嗎? 如果是的話，為什麼會有這麼多salt在這裡?
接著在第三段的最後一句:
Interbedded with the salt were thin layers of what appeared to be windblown silt.
雖然我一眼看過去能大概猜出這句話要表達的意思
->Between/Among the salt were thin layers of….
但是interbedded應該是一個過去分詞? 應該不能直接放在句子開頭當主詞，或者這句話其實是倒裝結構? 謝謝。
